ESTATE PLANNING/PROBATE SECTION VIRTUAL MEETING

DECEMBER 11, NOON

TOPIC: Six Suggestions for Virtual Mediation Success

Lisbeth Bulmash and Isaac Shutt will discuss mediation in probate, guardianship and estate matters.  In this age of COVID-19, virtual mediations are a safe way to conduct the mediation without endangering you or your client.  They will share suggestions for successful virtual mediations from the perspective of an experienced mediator and a probate attorney who litigates and mediates.  With most contested probate cases heading to mediation before trial, this presentation provides tactics on how to dramatically increase the likelihood that you will reach your mediation goals.

Lisbeth M. Bulmash, Esq. is a neutral at JAMS following nearly 20 years as a conflict resolution practitioner and a co-founder of an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) firm. She resolves civil, commercial and probate disputes of all sizes, including complex multi-party disputes. Lis  is a graduate of the University of Michigan for her B.A. and of Boston University School of Law. Lis sits on the State Bar of Texas ADR Counsel and the  board of the Texas Mediators Credentialing Association as well as the CCBA Probate Section.  She is a frequent speaker on  a variety of ADR topics.  She recently  presented CLE talks at the Association of Attorney Mediators, Dallas Bar Association, University of North Texas law school and recently at the 2020 North Texas Probate Bench Bar Conference.

Isaac Shutt is a probate attorney and mediator officed in Richardson, Texas.  Mr. Shutt routinely handles mediation in the stickiest of probate and guardianship matters.  Mr. Shutt is a graduate of the SMU Dedman School of Law, is Past President of the CCBA Probate Section, and has presented numerous times to lawyers on probate and probate mediation (including to our Section and at the North Texas Probate Bench Bar).
