Topic: The Rule of Law: What Does It Mean and Why Does It Matter?
The presentation will review the importance of the rule of law in American democracy, with specific reference to key principles, specifically equality under the law, clarity and accessibility, transparency in enactment and enforcement, due process, judicial independence, and an independent legal profession. The speakers will also address the role of lawyers as ambassadors for and guardians of the rule of law.
